Mr. Chokri Alaya comes from Tunisia. He has been working as a language teacher, translator and interpreter for more than 20 years. Prior to that, he had majored in the Chinese language at both the Beijing Culture and Language University and the Beijing Foreign Studies University, before studying engineering in the University of Hong Kong. He gained substantial experience in the commercial as well as the technical aspects of engineering project and management in Hong Kong and the Middle East, including projects under the Hong Kong Airport Authority and the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Currently, Mr. Alaya holds the following positions:
- Official Translator of the Royal Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Hong Kong
- Adjunct Lecturer at the Hong Kong University SPACE
- Instructor at the Hong Kong Baptist University – SCE
- Instructor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong – SCS
- Examiner, translator and court interpreter with the Court Language Section of the Hong Kong Judiciary
